Wearing a properly fitted helmet when riding a bicycle can help prevent injuries to children involved in bicycle accidents. Patients who come to Le Bonheur Children's as the result of a bicycle accident are given a bicycle helmet before they go home to help reinforce the "helmet habit". Safe Kids Mid-South, led by Le Bonheur Children's, also provides helmets to area children who ride bikes to school or in their neighborhood but cannot afford one.
